I am the frontman for the punk band Citizen Useless which plays music that nobody wants to listen to. I run a zine called Chapter 13 that nobody reads, I am the photographer for some of the BEST bands in Indonesia, I write rants, lyrics and bullshit and publish it for no reason. I drink a lot and love it. I don't care about people's opinions of me, religion, politics or family... so, deal with it. I do what I do for the love of it and I don't need anyone's permission, acceptance, or approval. I currently live in denial... and Jakarta, Indonesia... but mostly in denial.

Peter Kernel – Thrill Addict

There comes a time in the evening when the traditional verse-chorus-verse of repetitive sequential guitar chords begins to reach up with tired, gnarled hands, wrap themselves around my throat and slowly squeeze the life out of me. I am sure…

Dead Happy – Banana God

EP – 2015 – Coffee Jingle Records Dead Happy; even their name suggests some sort of weird oxymoron, a fusing of polar opposites, and quite possibly a paradox struggling to bring meaning to the meaningless genre that is Industrial. But…

Marys Ruin – Down The Line

Have you ever sat down at the stereo, slipped on an album with nervous trepidation (because, admit it folks, music these days, a band can either rock or mock the genre), and within minutes you were rocking out, happy to…

Generation Iron

As a teenager, I would look at muscle magazines sitting on the racks at my local drug store and think to myself “what the fuck are these muscle-bound, dumb jocks good for?” and I would automatically answer myself with a…

Divergent

Among other recent releases that exploit the utopian/dystopian future, such as The Day After Tomorrow, Ender’s Game, and Transcendence, comes another film that has none of the inspiration, plot, interest, or believability of Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty Four or Huxley’s Brave…

Review: The Hearted – Sorry For Apologizing

2014 / The Hearted Productions Say what you want about The Hearted, but they are not a bunch of slacker rejects. Formed a mere 3 years ago, during the summer of 2011, this bunch of good-looking preppy punks have taken Europe by…

Fistula – Vermin Prolificus

For the longest time I believed sludge metal to be music for nothing more than fat, lazy, aging metalheads who had finally reached the point in their lives where they simply refused to headbang, get in the pit, or truly…

The Pussywarmers and Réka – I Saw Them Leaving

Cover

With a name like Pussywarmers one could expect some kind of shock-rock, nu-metal, brand of Marilyn Manson or maybe a slightly less shocking Anal Cunt but one would be utterly and disappointingly wrong. A misleading name and being from Switzerland…

Blondie – 4(0) Ever

Blondie

What can I say about Blondie that hasn’t already been said by hundreds of reviewers over the years? In existence since 1974, a year after I was born, Blondie broke out of the growing and mutating underground punk scene of New York and into the more mainstream scene in 1978 into a music scene that was soon dubbed “New Wave” – a kind of tamer, more public-friendly version of Punk that was being marketed to the major labels and radio listening public. Debbie Harry, the blonde bombshell and former Playboy Bunny who fronted the band, had a sultry and mesmerizing voice and she soon became every new wave teenager’s wet dream. The music, although seemingly pop music today, was punk in the truest sense of the word back then as it took aspects of Reggae, disco, rock, and jazz and combined them all to make that distinctive “Blondie” sound. Blondie was in fact, ahead of their time back in the late 70s and early 80s and if it weren’t for their hiatus from 1982 to 1997, I am sure they would have …
